Details

Webster defines the word "communion" as a group of people of the same religious faith; a sharing in, or celebrating of, the Eucharist (Holy Communion).  The word "communion" also carries with it the connotation of fellowshiop.  Therefore, in partaking of the Communion service, one does so as an act of fellowship with the other saints of God.  The New Testament fellowship actually means that all those who partake of the Lord's table are walking in all the same light of the Word of God. (See 1 John 1:7.)  This is true fellowship or communion.  Metaphorically, we are partaking of the Lord's body as we observe this ordinance.  We are also fellowshipping with Him.

The ministry and membership of The Church of God have obligated themselves by covenant to the practice of walking in the light of the Word of God.  To walk in the light means we observe each ordinance by putting them into practice.  The Feet Washing service is a sacred time for all who participate in the fellowship of this ordinance.  We have accepted this ordinance as a Bible doctrine.  Watching the saints' feet has been instituted to commemorate the heart of a true servant in the life of believers.
